Once called "Therma", the village recieved its name from the completion of the Eagle Nest Dam.

Visit Eagle Nest Lake

Eagle Nest Lake sits high in the Moreno Valley, surrounded by open space and mountain views. It’s a cold-water lake known for fishing, especially for trout and northern pike. Eagle Nest Lake is at an elevation of 8,300 feet, making it an alpine lake, and it is situated in a glacial valley on the slopes of Wheeler Peak, New Mexico's highest mountain. The surrounding mountains are rich in wildlife such as elk, deer, turkeys and bears.
