Angel Fire's Origins
The origins of Angel Fire date back to the mid-19th century, when the area was primarily inhabited by Native American tribes, particularly the Taos Pueblo people, who utilized its natural resources for sustenance. In the late 1800s, the arrival of settlers marked the beginning of a new chapter, as farmers and ranchers recognized the land's potential. The town's name, inspired by the nearby Angel Fire ski area, reflects the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding mountains and the region's mystical allure. The 1930s brought early tourism, with visitors drawn to the area's scenic landscapes. The establishment of the ski resort in 1966 transformed Angel Fire into a popular year-round destination, setting the stage for its growth as a vibrant community centered around outdoor adventure and recreation.
